Was way back when I first library school and was the first week of class basic intro courses always relaxed and easy. There to read a few things and to discuss, but mostly it was getting to know each other time. How things have changed.The first week is getting to know each other, but in addition to the reading is piled on and we will have read expected it it, digested it and Tage.Es jump into discussion within is kind of stress, and it takes me a week or two to find a rhythm.
My class is this summer "Content representation." Here is the description of the class from the curriculum:
Focuses on access systems and alternative approaches to indexing on fundamental decisions to design. Presentation explores current issues in content: principles of topic analysis; natural language vs. vocabulary control; manual, computerised and automatic indexing; faceted indexing and classification systems; image indexing and retrieval; indexing and the Internet. Includes assessing the indexer consistency and indexing system performance.
This is a very different description when the class list online makes the class sound like cataloging with emphasis on electronic resources.I prefer the class which proved this has Tatsächlich.Ich have been always fascinated by the indexing and once, long ago to be examined as a professional book indexer.Despite these last few days with new concepts and theories I had to learn read the 100 pages or so I it is fun and interesting.
This week our readings and discussion have automatic (computer) indexing vs human indexing and in conjunction with this discussing user-centered indexing (user selects the terms) vs controlled vocabulary (someone else has chosen the conditions).It's quite interesting, how it's done in questions about what information is to information such as we find and why, and the basics as we know about the world create.
There are two major projects and several small tasks, especially relating to the Projekten.Eines of projects has a group component, but I don't think it will be bad because it seems like we each a large part of the project on our own finished is before we have to finish it as a group.
This is so, what do over the next ten weeks werden.Ich this week so exhilarating every week as it was, I'll be looking for books, to read much brain makes sein.Ich will not think as far as my not school read goes when the school reading have already some ideas so we wait and werde.Eine see thing I'm really excited, this is the last time I was in College during the summer be is next summer I will be free, and oh, the reading I then!
